A Maryland firefighter is recovering after falling through a roof while trying to create a vent hole.
According to WTOP, roughly 50 Montgomery County firefighters responded to the house fire early Sunday morning. The fire is believed to have started inside the garage and spread to the home. Two people inside made it out safely, though the fire caused an estimated $1.2 million in damage.
As firefighters worked that scene, a second fire happened near FedEx Field, which is the home of the Washington Redskins. During that fire, the roof collapsed and a firefighter fell through. He suffered burn injuries due to the fall.
He was being treated at a trauma center.
Two more people were displaced due to that fire, which brought last night’s total to four.
