A 66-year-old woman was found dead Monday following an early morning fire in her North Jersey home, authorities said.
Sharon Maes was found unresponsive inside the two-story home in the 200 block of North Pleasant Avenue in Ridgewood following the fire, which was reported about 1 a.m., according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
“During fire suppression operations, firefighters located the homeowner (identified as Maes) in the living room of the residence,” Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said in a statement. “Maes succumbed to her injuries from the fire and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
No other injuries were reported and Musella said the cause of the blaze is under investigation. “At this time, the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious,” Musella added.
