More than a dozen people are feared dead after a massive fire ripped through a row home in Philadelphia Wednesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the Fairmount neighborhood around 6:40 a.m., according to a series of tweets from the Philadelphia Fire Department. When they arrived on the scene, flames were erupting from the building and thick black smoke was escaping through the second story of the three-story rowhouse.
Crews manage to contain the blaze in just under an hour, but fire officials said the scene remained active.

Sources told Fox 29 that as many as 13 people died in the fire. At least another two victims, an adult and child, were rushed to the hospital amid the chaos.

Fire officials have not confirmed the number of fatalities, only that the fire was deadly.
